Please see the statement made from the Wakefield Education Association in regards to the Wakefield School District's plan to return students in grades 5-8 to school.

The letter below was sent to members of the Wakefield School Board on Wednesday August 12. We ask that if you agree with our position please email the board members at their email addresses below:

It is a loaded question, and one that is very subjective. There are some in the town of Wakefield that think the teachers are overpaid and underworked. Some believe we earn a fair wage for the work we do. Others would like to see teachers paid more.

There has been some discussion about the next year's collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and the raise that it provides to teachers. In order to explain the raises that some, but not all, will earn, we will have to explain what is a step and how is it different from a cost of living adjustment (COLA).
